Soul Song - Marjorie M. Liu

Soul Song - Marjorie M. Liu
This is the latest in Marjorie M. Liu's Dirk & Steele Series. Kind of on the periphery though because it doesn't involve any of the actual agents. This is the story of Kitala Bell (a friend of Dela Reese from a previous book) and M'Cal. M'Cal is a merman who is being forced by an evil witch to steal the souls of humans. Kit is a violinist who is able to see the murder of someone when she looks at them. The witch wants Kit's soul and sends M'Cal to get it. They fall in love instead, of course :)

I read some not very good reviews of this book, but I thought it was a nice addition to the series. We did get to see some of the agents when they showed up to help out. I had been a little disappointed that this was about people we had seen very little of if anything at all, but I ended up liking it. I enjoy Marjorie's writing style and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series - this one is about Amiri who is pretty new to the agency also. I am finding Koni more intiguing each time he makes an appearance and I'll be very interested in his book.

I'm giving this one 4 stars :)

Jennifer Crusie re-read kick

Strange Bedpersons - Jennifer Crusie's work is always fun. I enjoyed the story of Nick and Tess and the opposites attract theme.

What the Lady Wants - Another fun story. Mitch and Mae were great in a take off of the gumshoe and damsel in distress theme.

Jennifer Crusie is a favorite author of mine - both of these get 4.5 stars :)
